From the Campaign Trail
I saw the following quote in an article today.
After campaigning for 15 months in nearly all 50 states, Barack Obama and our entire campaign have been nothing but impressed and encouraged by the core decency, kindness, and generosity of Americans from all walks of life. The last year has only reinforced Senator Obama’s view that this country is not as divided as our politics suggest.
I cite it not for anything to do w/ Sen. Obama, but for its commentary on what his campaign found on the campaign trail – a people and a country that are much better than the dreck that is our modern politics. Having attended and, to some degree, participated in several of the conventions that now have drawn to a close in the Utah political process, I solidly agree with the Obama campaign’s observations regarding the “decency, kindness, and generosity” of the people.
It is invigorating and greatly encouraging to witness the goodness and goodwill of the people. The challenge for those who successfully complete the campaign trail, after they hold office, is to match their discussions and actions to the core goodness of the people who put them in those offices.

It is encouraging that the tone may be changing. As a liberal who has sensed a concerted effort in past campaigns to not just demonize my opinions, but demonize who I am, I hope that Americans are as Obama has found, a more generous and sincere group of people.
But living under the Cheney/Bush/Rove administration and their propaganda network that has so denigrated our Republic and divided us as a nation, I'm reserving judgment.
Yet I do have hope. How is that for audacity.
Best regards.
"Obi knobi's liberal wand" had revealed to all that Obama is the change to cure all of America's woes. An onpoint example of how generous wise liberals can be. Voin Campbell.
Obi's comments are (probably) unintentionally amusing.
First, he echoes Urquhart's kumbaya comments and then he accuses his opponents of propaganda and demonization, as if the Left never demonizes the Right.
So there you have it. When the right criticizes, it's divisive and denigrating and when the left criticizes, it's unifying.
I agree with "Anonymous". I appreciate that obi wan liberali is encouraged by a "new tone", but it's simply incredible that he thinks that Bush, Cheney, and Rove invented divisiveness! And they "ruined the republic too"! This is the kind of stuff that will keep the country divided. I frankly see little chance of this changing because people have become so uncivil, and so arrogant that they think anyone with a differing opinion is stupid, wrong, divisive, etc. This is too bad. I hope it can change, but again, I see little hope. Too many people are just too negative and frankly, mean.
