Public Lands and the Western Education Rip-off
I hope this article is correct that Sen. Reid is poised to run with the APPLE Initiative, requiring the federal government to deal with the billions of dollars it is stealing from western states by breaching commitments made at statehood regarding federal lands.

Although an unrealistic expectation, I would prefer to see the federal government sell off a great deal of federal lands, thereby eliminating the need for western states to have to "beg" Congress to give payments in lieu of taxes. That being said, PILT would be a step in the right direction and I share your hope that Harry Reid uses his new position of leadership to pursue such measures.
