State Convention

Stop by our booth this Saturday at the Republican Party State Convention. We'd like to visit with you and, if you haven't signed up yet to help with the campaign, we'd love to welcome you to the team.

It should be a fun day. We'll elect party leadership, vote on some resolutions, and, after convention, I hear someone is catering a retirement party.

Hmmm....was that a "slightly" below the belt shot?

I dont know if it is any worse than what Hatch did almost thirty years ago. "What do you call a Senator of 18 years? You call him home." The both seem to suggest that retirement is the proper course. Problem is Hatch has fallen in love with power and conveniently flip-flopped (sounds like another Senator I know).

According to the Official Unabridged Dictionary of Humor, I'd say it fits more in the realm of a good-humored "jab" than a "shot."

However you classify it, it's on the money, years overdue, and very funny.

I wasn't able to make the convention, but I heard Hatch couldn't recall the names of the Utah federal Congressmen?

That's right Wallace. The funny part was he acted as though his throat was bothering him to fill the silent void. It appeared as though his staff member whispered in his ear their names after he handed him some water.

Worse yet, Hatch endorsed Matheson, commenting on how great it was to work with him.

It interesting to see how sporadic Hatch's applause was. In fact, there were many who sat with their arms folded the whole time. It seems there are plenty of delegates eager for a change.

Interestingly Hatch spoke at the convention about how great it was to work with his teamates (our U.S. congressmen from Utah) and could not remember thier names. What is going on back there? The average high school student taking a U.S. government class knows the names of each congressmen. What are we doing with a GOP Senator who is endorsing Matheson?
